This echoes the Medicare compliance reviews conducted by the HHS Office of Inspector General, in which auditors hit eight to 16 hospital risk areas at the same time and evaluate internal controls as well.
It’s a sign of the times, as the government tries to leverage data mining to expose as many potential errors as possible based on volume and value trending.
